We've all by now in life experienced those kinds of people that truly make us want to SCREAM, CRY, SLAP them... you get the vibe. These people may be family members, work colleagues or very commonly your fellow car drivers.
Throughout our daily lives we are likely to have encounters that really do test us to our core. But the one thing to remember always is - YOU CAN'T CONTROL WHAT PEOPLE SAY, WHAT THEY DO, BUT YOU CAN ALWAYS CONTROL HOW YOU REACT. Keyword: CHOICE. Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying this is easy. This definitely takes practice but I guarantee you will experiance a new sense of understanding of the people & yourself.
What you have to remember is (especially when dealing with outbursts from strangers) is - it's not personal. They don't know you. Who cares. Don't get angry, just understand they are the ones choosing to be in a negative frame of mind - not you. Don't let it get to you, choose not to let it. You choose to keep your joy.
Don't let the little things get to you - so often it really is the littlest things that we tend to disagree over. So remember next time, mid - feeling yourself getting ready to snap. STOP. Ask yourself if it's really worth getting into? Will it matter in 5 months or 5 years? If your answer is no then drop it. What will this conversation result in by getting overly emotional and heated? Probably nothing good, only to have to re-visit it later (if this person is important to you) resulting in time and energy wasted & negative feelings rehashed all over again.
People will treat you the way you allow them to treat you. I'm not saying don't stick up for yourself - DO! But be clever about the way in which you do it. Emotional people often are taken less seriously because they're seen to be unstable and often their point will not be heard effectively if this is the case - FACT.
Now this video explains exactly what I've just written about & it's something that for me once I began to think in this way, completely changed my interactions. You don't have to be religious or believe in God in order to receive the message that this video is trying to give you - the message still applies without that aspect so just listen & see what you can take away from this video! Because it sure as hell made a difference to me.
